Soldier Stonekong | |||
---|---|---|---|
Stage: Deep Forest | Weakness: Explosion | Recommended Characters: Axl, Zero | Difficulty: Easy |
X and Axl's Weapons: Gaea Shield | Zero's Technique: Gokumonken | ||
Solder Stonekong will have three attacks that he will use very often. For the first he will release his tiny shield and let it fly around the arena. Dodge it by jumping over it. Put some distance between him and you and use rapid fire to damage him. His second attack is that he will dash-jump towards you. Dodge him by jumping over him or simply run away from him. His third attack involves him jumping onto the obstacle in the middle of the arena and creating a huge rock which will split into two parts. These will fly in each direction around the arena and then explode when impacting each other. It's actually only Zero who can dodge these using his double-jump ability. X and Axl are a little harder to use in this situation. He also has a fourth attack, but it's rather unusual that he uses it. If you stand near him, he will raise his sword and slash at you. This attack will take half of your life energy, so watch out. His sword can be destroyed though. By standing behind him after his dash attack, attack with rapid fire to destroy the sword. |
Tornado Tonion | |||
---|---|---|---|
Stage: Radio Tower | Weakness: Gaea Shield |
Recommended Characters: Axl, Zero | Difficulty: Easy |
X and Axl's Weapons: Volt Tornado (+Ray Gun) | Zero's Technique: Raijinshou | ||
Tornado Tonion will use three attacks very often. The first one will be when he creates a shield out of parts from his body. This is easily dodged by running away from it. His second attack is when he creates a long blade out of the same parts. He will swing this from one side to another for a couple of times. Evade it by jumping over it and use rapid fire. His third attack is when he begins to spin. If he catches you in his tornado, he will swing you up to the top and you will then fall to the ground and take lots of damage. Try to evade this by running around. When he has lost all the parts of his body when using the shield or blade attack, he will take more damage when struck. |
Splash Warfly | |||
---|---|---|---|
Stage: Battleship | Weakness: Volt Tornado |
Recommended Characters: Zero, X | Difficulty: Normal |
X and Axl's Weapons: Splash Laser | Zero's Technique: Suiretsusen (+D-Glaive) | ||
This guy will be running around on the platform swinging his blade. He will have three attacks that he will use often. The first one is when he fires a beam of water against you. Dodge it by running around or jumping around. His second and third attack are pretty similar to each other. He will do a thrust attack with his blade. The first of these two is when he just dashes towards you, trying to hit you with a sticking attack. You will notice when he will engage this move, because he will stop and then attack quickly. His second thrust attack is when he does a double-slice attack. This will inflict more damage if he hits you than the previous attack. He will also jump down in the water sometimes. When he does this, wait for him to come up and quickly run towards him and release the Volt Tornado. He will be stunned for a few seconds and then jump down into the water again. Repeat the same thing you just did until he is defeated. |
Flame Hyenard | |||
---|---|---|---|
Stage: Lava Factory | Weakness: Splash Laser |
Recommended Characters: X, Zero | Difficulty: Normal |
X and Axl's Weapons: Circle Blaze (+Double Bullet) |
Zero's Technique: Bakuenjin | ||
This is the most annoying boss in the whole game. Once the battle begins, two Flame Hyenards will run towards you. These are crazy, they will run around and scream "Burn! Burn! Burn to the ground" all the time and you will be brainwashed after the battle. Begin firing at them and when one of them is destroyed, a new one will appear. This is not how you should do it. Instead, look at the giant hyena which is walking around the platform you're standing on. The real Flame Hyenard is on its back. Fire at its legs to stop it. Climb up the legs and he will be standing on the head. Fire at him and he will come to you. He will call up his copies and run around you. At the same time, the giant hyena will begin walking, so watch you feet. While these three are running around you, keep your eyes on the real one. When he is right in front of you, release the Splash Laser to stun him. He will now create two new copies and you shall simply repeat what you just did. After each hit, they will run faster - making it harder for you to keep your eyes on the real one. After a few hits though, the giant hyena will release missiles from its back right into the air. These will try to hit you. Just run around to evade them as they are not homing missiles. |
Ride Boarski | |||
---|---|---|---|
Stage: Central Circuit | Weakness: Circle Blaze |
Recommended Characters: X, Axl | Difficulty: Normal |
X and Axl's Weapons: Moving Wheel | Zero's Technique: Zankourin | ||
This guy is pretty funny to listen to. You will be in a circular arena where he will drive around in. He has three attacks that he will use all the time. The first one is when he creates three wheels behind him and drives around the arena. Stand in the middle of the arena and nothing will happen. Instead, just fire at him. Your chance will come when he is standing still, release the Circle Blaze and it will explode on him. His second attack is when he rushes towards you, trying to hit you. If he hits you, you will fly into the air and he will take you down on his tusks and drive you into the wall. Jump or run away from him to evade this attack. His last attack is when he lays out an orange ball in the middle of the arena. This ball will create three arms which will rotate around in the arena. Stand near the wall to evade them. |
Snipe Anteator | |||
---|---|---|---|
Stage: Cyber Field | Weakness: Moving Wheel |
Recommended Characters: X, Axl | Difficulty: Hard |
X and Axl's Weapons: Sniper Missile | Zero's Technique: Hieijin | ||
This is the hardest of the eight Mavericks. You will be on the back of a cylinder. He will be able to walk around the cylinder but you won't. You are only able to walk on the back. He has three attacks he will use. The first attack will be when he lays out bombs shaped as ants. These will detonate when you're near them. His second attack is when he launches a bunch of homing missiles against you. This is very hard to dodge as you must evade them all. Equip the Gaea Shield to get some protection. When he stands still, release the Moving Wheel to hit him. It's very weak though, so try to use the Charge Shot instead. It would be a good thing to have the X-Buster Upgrade against this guy as the Moving Wheel releases three wheels when charged. Also, his third attack is far worse than the missiles. He will create tiny balls around him, which will fly around and place themselves near you and fire. They will move only once until it's the specific ball's turn to move again. But they will fire like crazy so you have to evade these things and fire at the boss at the same time. He can also release missiles during this process. |
Wind Crowrang | |||
---|---|---|---|
Stage: Air Forces | Weakness: Sniper Missile |
Recommended Characters: X, Axl | Difficulty: Normal |
X and Axl's Weapons: Wind Cutter | Zero's Technique: Souenbu (+V-Hanger) | ||
This guy is pretty easy. He will have three attacks to use. The first one is when he places himself outside of the arena in the air. From there he will fire a boomerang at you. It's easy to evade so just dash away. As he is still in the air, your Auto Lock-On system will lock onto him. Launch the Sniper Missile to stun him. His second attack is right after the first attack. He will fly up in the air and try to hit you on the ground with a diving attack. Dash away as you will see his shadow when he comes down. Now, while on the ground you should launch the Sniper Missile again or use rapid fire as much as you can. His third attack is when he dashes towards you or tries to hit you with his daggers. Jump over him to evade it. |
Vanishing Gungaroo | |||
---|---|---|---|
Stage: Tunnel Base | Weakness: Wind Cutter |
Recommended Characters: X, Axl | Difficulty: Normal |
X and Axl's Weapons: Explosion (+G-Launcher) | Zero's Technique: Hadangeki | ||
This guy is pretty easy. At first he will use a Ride Armor. There will be another Ride Armor when you start the battle to jump into to even the odds. When his Ride Armor is defeated, the real battle begins. He is really tiny and fast, so he's pretty hard to hit. He will often try to kick you or fire at you, but this is easily evaded as you just have to run or dash away. As he is standing still, fire the Wind Cutter at him. It's not very powerful though, so use the X-Buster instead. When half his life is gone, he will charge up and become faster and harder to hit. But keep on using the same tactic as before and you should defeat him soon enough. |
The following bosses will be fought in the final stages. |
Bulldozer Mechaniloid | |||
---|---|---|---|
Stage: Palace Road | Weakness: Explosion | Recommended Characters: X, Zero | Difficulty: Normal |
X and Axl's Weapons: N/A | Zero's Technique: N/A | ||
This guy will chase you through the whole stage before you fight him. He will drive past you from the right to the left and vice versa. This is his main simple attack. He will also use a power beam attack where he will begin by charging up energy and he will then release a giant beam of energy. Place yourself just beneath him and you shouldn't be hit. Or you can always jump over the beam if that's easier. If you place yourself beneath him, you can just fire Charge Shots at him and he will lose lots of life energy. After his beam attack, he will do the driving attack again. Be sure to check him from which way he drives to. He always begins the driving attack from the middle of the street. Be sure to stand where you are and he will come on the upper or lower side of the street. After that, he will probably do his beam attack again. He may even do the same attack after he has just done it. So be sure to check him carefully. Every time he uses the beam attack, stand just beneath him and fire. This should take him out in a few turns. Also try to sneak a shot or two in from the Explosion weapon, as it'll sap away a heap of energy on contact. |
Red | |||
---|---|---|---|
Stage: Crimson Palace |
Weakness: X-Buster | Recommended Characters: X, Zero | Difficulty: Hard |
X and Axl's Weapons: N/A | Zero's Technique: N/A | ||
Red is pretty frustrating to defeat as he will teleport from one platform to another. He will also make two copies of himself after every hit. He will always be on the middle platform from the start. Charge up your weapon and release it against him. You may be able to do this one or two more times before he teleports if you're fast enough. Once he is hit, he will throw his scythe at you. Dash-jump to another platform to evade the attack. His copies are very easily evaded as they will be flashing before they become totally visible and attack you. When you see them flashing around you, be sure to quickly jump to another platform as they will attack directly when they become visible. Once Red teleports he will appear on another platform and you can see where he appears as a big black hole appears just before him. You may have to rotate the camera to see where he appears. Sometimes he will appear and then disappear just after his appearance. The most annoying place he appears on is where you started the battle, at the very far back. Another attack is when pink tornados appear on some of the platforms. If you're standing on a platform where the tornado begins, be sure to quickly jump away from there. He can also fire energy waves at you, both horizontal and vertical depending on what you're doing. After enough hits, he will finally give up. |
When advancing through the final stage, you will have to fight all of the eight Mavericks again. Utilise the same tactics and weapons as before to defeat them, and remember to pick up the life and weapon energy refills between each battle. |
Sigma Part 1 | |||
---|---|---|---|
Stage: Crimson Palace |
Weakness: X-Buster | Recommended Characters: X, Zero | Difficulty: Normal |
X and Axl's Weapons: N/A | Zero's Technique: N/A | ||
Sigma returns again with a new body. But he isn't that hard actually. You will be on some kind of an elevator. He will begin by flying in the background and you can simply charge up your weapon and fire. He will fire missiles at you from where he is. Dodge them by running away. When he lands on the ground he will try to fire at you. Crouch behind the blocks to evade his attacks. He will also pick up a bazooka-like weapon and fire a big purple beam at you. Crouch behind the blocks to evade this attack as it will take heavy damage on you if it hits you. |
Sigma's Final Form | |||
---|---|---|---|
Stage: Crimson Palace |
Weakness: X-Buster | Recommended Characters: X, Zero | Difficulty: Hard |
X and Axl's Weapons: N/A | Zero's Technique: N/A | ||
Sigma has become a giant. Most annoying is that he has one and a half life energy bar, meaning he has 150% life energy when other bosses had only 100%. You will be in outer space on some kind of platforms shaped like a spiral staircase. Your main target is his head so try to be at the top platform when you fight him. He will have five attacks, all of which are very strong. His first attack is when he releases green plasma bombs from his hands. These will fall down on you. Walk down the platforms to evade them. His second attack is when his head appears right in front of you. He will now fire plasma balls from his mouth like a machine gun, but he will have to charge it up first. Just stand in front of the head and fire to stop his charging. His third attack is when he appears at a medium range before aiming his waist at you. He'll then emit a huge purple beam and sweep it left-to-right, time your jumps to avoid it. Watch out when he begins spinning around in the distance, as he'll launch four fireballls which will home in on you. Jump and dash around madly to try and avoid them as they close in. His fifth and strongest attack is your chance to deliver Charged Shots. He will appear with some distance between you and him. He will then launch a very quick and powerful punch against you. Jump away right before the punch and he will miss you. Now, attack his head with Charge Shots. When half of his life is gone he will be a little harder to hit. He will simply become faster in his moves, and will disappear faster than before. He will also lose his mask and you can now see his real face. Use the same tactic as you did before to defeat him. Also coordinate with Zero as he can deflect Sigma's fireballs when he appears up close to inflict damage back at him. |
