Items Guide
The item list shows where all the special items are to be found and how they can help out X, Zero and Axl. The list includes the locations of the eight energy hearts in each of the main stages, the two energy tanks, the special weapon and EX tank and the Dr. Light capsules for X's new Glide Armor.
Energy hearts will allow X, Zero and Axl to hold more energy, making them stronger and able to survive longer in battle. There are eight in total to find. Keep in mind that whoever picks up the heart will receive extra life energy, but not the other two characters.
Energy Tanks will allow the Hunters to store energy to be used during battle if their energy is low. They are important and very useful. There are two in total. The Glide Armor will allow X to become much stronger and able to perform special abilities, including gliding through the air.
Missing Reploids | |
---|---|
128 stranded reploids are scattered throughout the eight Maverick stages and need your help. Each one has their own unique name and you'll easily spot them via the "HELP!" message above them. Quickly touch them to rescue them safely, as if an enemy touches them or shoots them they'll die. Some reploids have special items for you which you'll see after completing the stage. They can be carrying a Power-Up Part chip, an extra life, a life energy boost or a weapon energy boost. These are all very useful so it's well worth your while searching for and rescuing these reploids. |
Energy hearts | |

Soldier Stonekong Stage While you're walking through the stage, you'll eventually encounter the stone-head enemies. Once you find the fifth once, destroy it to find the heart beneath it. |
|
Tornado Tonion Stage As you're walking up the tower, you will encounter a large hole in the ground. To get over it, you must jump on wooden crates which will appear and then vanish after a few seconds. Jump to the second one and wait for it to vanish. You will fall right onto the heart. |
|
Splash Warfly Stage After conquering the three Serpents in the second area, check behind a crate up ahead (in the third area) on the left to find this heart concealed there. |
|
Flame Hyenard Stage In the second section, you will have to jump from platform to platform. When you find the first pipe that fires green gas, jump down onto the pipe to find the heart on it. |
|
Ride Boarski Stage As you're driving through the stage, you'll eventually get to a part with pink lanes on both sides of you. Drive near the right side to grab the heart. |
|
Snipe Anteator Stage In the second section of the stage, there will be orange platforms which allow you to walk upside down. As you start, walk left and you will see the heart clearly. Jump on the nearest orange platform and then walk left while beneath the platforms. Jump up the next orange platform and you'll get the heart. |
|
Wind Crowrang Stage In the beginning of the stage, you will eventually have to jump onto a red plane which will explode. The heart will come flying towards you, so wait until you see it and then jump to grab it. This may take a few tries to grab it successfully. |
|
Vanishing Gungaroo Stage In the very last room of the stage, in the room where you have to destroy the specific amount of Robot Ride Armor enemies shown in the bottom corner of the screen, there will be pillars around the room. Climb up one of them to find the heart. |

Robot Ride armor
Ride Chaser | |
---|---|
You'll use the Ride Chaser in Ride Boarski's stage only. It won't travel as fast as it did in previous titles, so you'll have a great amount of control over the bike. Hold X down to accelerate, but check your speed as there's plenty of obstacles on the course. Use the Square button to fire the bike's blaster, and hold it down for a Charge Shot. Try to avoid striking enemies as you'll still take damage from them. |
Raiden Armor II | |
---|---|
This behemoth is found in Vanishing Gungaroo's stage. While inside this armor you'll be able to walk around in the green acid without taking damage. Press Square for a simple punch attack, or repeatedly for a sequence of attacks. Dash and fire for a drill-lunge attack, and press Triangle for a vertical bombing-drop attack against enemies below you. Press fire while in the air to perform a spin attack, or Triangle for a quick drop attack. |
Chimera Armor | |
---|---|
You'll find this armor in Vanishing Gungaroo's stage and the Crimson Palace. Hold fire for automatic laser blasts, or press Triangle while standing still to launch two homing missiles. |

Only X can open the following capsules.
Boots Upgrade | Stage: Soldier Stonekong |
---|---|
When you find one stone-head enemy on top of another and a reploid floating right behind them, destroy the lower one and climb up the upper one. Walk to the left to find the capsule. The Boots Upgrade will allow X to use the Glide Dash. This allows him to glide in the air. |
X-Buster Upgrade | Stage: Flame Hyenard |
---|---|
In the first section of the stage, you will eventually encounter some giant Serpent enemies. When you find the second one, climb down the hole to find the capsule. The X-Buster Upgrade allows X to charge up a fourth version of a charge shot and he can also charge up his special weapons. |
Helmet Upgrade | Stage: Snipe Anteator |
---|---|
In the second section of the stage, there will be a gigantic orange platform where the capsule is resting. As this maze can be confusing, try to follow these steps to find it. Near the end of the second area you'll see a Samurai passing through a wall between two orange platforms. Jump into the teleporter on the first platform to flip upside down, then head right to find a large orange platform there. Jump into the teleporter and you'll reappear right next to the capsule. |
Armor Upgrade | Stage: Wind Crowrang |
---|---|
In the second section of the stage, when you're inside the ship, you'll eventually come to a place where the path splits in three ways. Walk left to find the capsule. The Armor Upgrade allows X to use Giga Crash by pressing the L1 + R1 buttons. |
